Christopher Designs — Designer Spotlight

Christopher Designs was founded in 1981 by Christopher Slowinski, a master diamond setter and designer originally from Poland, in a 200-square-foot shop with a single bench on Manhattan's 47th Street. Years of challenging special-order work sharpened both his skill and his inventiveness — today the house holds 17 patents for diamonds and jewelry, including the celebrated Crisscut® diamond, and every piece is still made by hand in New York.

Crafted by Masters, One Piece at a Time

Every Christopher Designs creation begins with a hand-drawn sketch before it is translated into a high-precision CAD model. In the New York workshop, master jewelers set stones under microscopes, shape platinum and 18k gold, and perfect every detail — and each piece passes an uncompromising quality check before it leaves the studio.

The Crisscut® Diamond

In the mid-1990s, a miscut baguette revealed intriguing triangular facets and sparked an entirely new diamond cut. Christopher patented the Crisscut® diamond in 1996, followed by the L'Amour Crisscut®, designed for greater visual size and brilliance. With far more facets than traditional step cuts, Crisscut® diamonds deliver remarkable sparkle and fire. Christopher Designs engagement settings can be made for the center diamond you choose.

From One Bench on 47th Street

Christopher's first breakthrough came when he was sent a poorly executed invisible setting. He had never worked with the technique, so he took it apart, reimagined its structure, and created a more secure method — earning his first utility patent and putting Christopher Designs on the map.
